recent Gnumeric

It would be nice to have an update of Gnumeric. The Q4OS-Version is 1.12.18 (from September 2014) but the recent Version (gnumeric.org) is 1.12.32 (August 2016).

Re: recent Gnumeric

Q4OS Orion is based on the stable version of Debian and therefore lacks the latest software updates, I have checked the testing version and that has 1.12.31-1 which is a lot closer to what you want. If you want the latest software versions you could try using Q4OS Scorpion which is the testing version of Q4OS, but be warned the testing version is not recommended for production use and may have a few quirks (it is a testing release after all).
Sometimes newer software becomes available through the backports repository, but I've had a quick look and I don't see it available at the moment.
Hope this helps.

Re: recent Gnumeric

Hello, about q4os scorpion - that is based on the branch testing (not stable)  - is this version also rolling? can be upgraded indefinitely to the  most recently version as other distros? I want to know because I am interested in installing this in another netbook and to prove .  The advantage of "testing is that has software more recent." as I understand (if I am not wrong) . On stability I am not worry because I want to only experiment and to use in  home . I know stable is more recomended for more stability.  But the center point of my question is,  if this (scorpion [testing branch] can be considered rolling and if this version will be produced continously by the Team in the future. (excuse my grammar sintax _ i’am not english person.)

Yes, it can. Keep in mind it's a testing branch, so you could meet some unexpected issues.

Re: recent Gnumeric

You can install from the live-cd, in fact it's what I use all the time, I never use the installation only iso. smile

Re: recent Gnumeric

Yes  actually realized that the installer is in the corner bottom left. I Started it, but see  [in scorpion 2.1] the  system install is Gparted type, a little more complicated than the Orion 1.6.[ more intuitive] . Here I see a point something difficult for initiated in Linux. Orion is a much more easy to work.(installing). Even for who never had experience with linux. I hope that this detail is taken in consideration. One of the things that blocks on linux initiates to adapt this system is input at the time of installation. You may feel intimidated and abandon the attempt  and to return to Windows. Or could be that this q4os more oriented to Linux users with some experience (not beginners). But nothing, if it provides easily understandable documentation would be a solution. Best regards

Re: recent Gnumeric

I have been using Linux for quite some time now so I probably see things as being easier than they are to a noob, but I wouldn’t recommend a testing distro to any one new to Linux, I would think an unstable system would be more likely to put them off than anything else.
And documentation for a testing distro would be almost impossible to keep up to date due to the constant changes, it is for "testing" after all. smile

Re: recent Gnumeric

@orion
The Scorpion installer uses almost the same partitioning software as Orion. The difference you mention probably sources from different existing disk partitions on the target system.

There is very nice live installation guide available http://dsbnet.tk/pages/install_q4os.php , thanks to Dai_trying.

Live media allows users to get a quick Q4OS experience, or test it on a real hardware without installation. If satisfied, an optional installation of Q4OS is available.
