PMP (MP3 player) not recognized by TDE or Dolphin

I have a PMP or MP3 player (https://www.behance.net/gallery/57823177/Iriver-T70) that's not recognized by TDE or Dolphin. However, it's detected by fdisk:

# fdisk -l
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
/dev/sdb1         128 33089407 33089280 31,6G  b W95 FAT32

How can I fix this?

I've seen an old issue about the same problem, but it hasn't been solved:

Thank you!

Re: PMP (MP3 player) not recognized by TDE or Dolphin

A few tips by AI what could be relevant. Try them and post back the progress.

1. Check if you can mount it manually
Open a terminal and try to mount the player to a temporary directory. This will help confirm if the system can read the data:
$ sudo mkdir /media/mp3player
$ sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /media/mp3player
If this works, you should be able to browse your files inside /media/mp3player using Dolphin.

2. Verify Trinity Media Manager Settings
TDE relies on its own hardware manager to auto-mount drives.
1. Open the Control Center (TDE Control Center).
2. Navigate to Peripherals -> Storage Media.
3. Check the Advanced tab and ensure that automounting is enabled for removable drives.
4. Try adding a specific rule for your device if it's listed under unmounted media.

3. Check for missing MTP/USBMASS helper packages
Some PMPs require specific runtime libraries to talk to modern file managers. Ensure you have the necessary packages installed:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install jmtpfs mtp-tools kio-audiocd
(After installing, replug the device and see if TDE prompts a pop-up).

4. Create a permanent Udev rule (If TDE still ignores it)
If the desktop environment refuses to auto-detect it, you can force the system to mount it automatically whenever it's plugged in.
First, get the UUID of the device:
$ sudo blkid /dev/sdb1
Then, add a line to your /etc/fstab (replace YOUR-UUID-HERE with the actual output):
text
UUID=YOUR-UUID-HERE /media/mp3player vfat user,rw,umask=000,nofail,x-systemd.automount 0 0
Let us know if the manual mount works or if you encounter any specific error messages in the terminal!

Yes, that works.

The automounting option was disabled. I've enabled it, then I reboot the system, but nothing's changed.

Those packages wasn't installed. I've installed them, then I reboot the system, but nothing's changed.

I've run "sudo blkid /dev/sdb1" and I've added this line at the end of "/etc/fstab":

UUID=EC95-4FBB  /media/user/mp3player     vfat    user,rw,umask=200,nofail,x-systemd.automount    0 0

Then I reboot the system and now the MP3 player is automounted when I plug it. However, I can't find a way to graphically umount it before I unplug it, and the command "sudo umount /dev/sdb1" doesn't work. In Dolphin, no device appears in Storage Media.

Thanks.

Re: PMP (MP3 player) not recognized by TDE or Dolphin

The same problem happens with all MP3 players. Is it possible to activate the TDE plug&play system for these devices?
