Hello everyone,
I would like to report an issue I'm experiencing with the latest version of Google Chrome (140.0.7339.80-1), which was updated through the Q4OS repositories.
Since the update, Chrome's user interface has stopped rendering correctly. The tab bar, drop-down menus (such as the settings menu or the right-click menu), and other UI elements appear blank, corrupted, or have illegible characters.
It's important to note that the issue does not affect web pages or their content. The websites appear and function perfectly. The issue is exclusive to the browser's interface.
I have tried the following solutions without success:
Disable hardware acceleration (--disable-gpu)
Reset Chrome settings
Clear the Chrome cache and user profile
Reboot the system.etc
Is it possible to return to the previous version which was 139.0.7258.154-1? I don't know what the steps would be and if they are available in the Q4OS repositories.

We are not able to reproduce, Chrome works fine here. Would you post more detailed info about your system please ? https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502 Have you configured some visual theme ?
Do anyone else notice this issue ?

I clarify that I do not use any modified theme, all themes are from Chrome, whether the QT or GTK version.

I think the question is what user interface theme are you using. I think you are on TDE so it may be worth going in to Theme Manager and setting to Plastik or something nice and basic. Also take a look at your font settings in Control Centre. Is your UI in English?

@josek
We would recommend you to create new test user and try to run Chrome within his session. We are not able to reproduce the issue, moreover we have insufficient information about your system, so we can't even investigate.

In the end I uninstalled Chrome, it's not a problem with my system or TDE, as I said it was a failure of the Chrome update, I installed Brave for now

This is a bug in Chrome https://issues.chromium.org/issues/442747781

Exactly, that's what I wanted to get at regarding the problem I was having a few days ago.
I think the only solution I can see is to apply the "apt-mark hold" command to avoid that bad update.

And yet bizarrely I see no problems whatsoever with it. Strange.

It seems, this bug doesn't appear in Q4OS and Debian. We can't reproduce it anyhow. It's seems to be connected to Ubuntu some way.
