Audio devices- headphones not detected st, please help me to resolve

Hi Team,

am so happy to join the Q4OS community. I have old desktop with Intel Pentium D 2.66 Ghz processor and 2 GB RAM. Please find the more details below.

Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 11
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.0-16-amd64
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 2 × Intel® Pentium® D CPU 2.66GHz
Memory: 1.9 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® 945G

The desktop doesn't have inbuilt support for Wifi, wireless keyboard and audio devices. So I bought external dongles to enhance the system which works great except for the Headphones. I have read many posts on this forum related to audio issues but didn't found anything that matches my issue. So i collected the information about the audio driver suggested in a post and please find the details below.

Is this headset being used via Bluetooth dongle, 3.5mm jack, or USB?  We need more information to proceed.

Re: Audio devices- headphones not detected st, please help me to resolve

Hi Team,

Sorry for the delay in reply.

I have tried 2 options. 1 Boat R_510 bluetooth headset ( https://www.boat-lifestyle.com/products/rockerz-510 ) and Zebronics Zeb-County 3 ( https://zebronics.com/collections/wirel … b-county-3 )

Both has options to connect via Bluetooth, Aux, or USB. but my computer doesn't have hardware for Bluetooth, so I have tried using AUX/USB.

Kindly guide me the installation, if its bcz of some missing drivers.

regards,

Ragunath

Re: Audio devices- headphones not detected st, please help me to resolve

So the Aux connection should "just work" if all features of your sound card is working (most specifically headphone port, which is odd since I'm pretty sure that's the hp_out in devices of your alsa report).  When you put it in USB mode and plug it in, can you verify that the system even SEES that it got plugged in (dmesg, look for anything about multimedia devices in the last 50 or so lines)?

This is after plugging your headset in?  This looks like a dmesg of a system that was just booted.

No idea if this will work.
If we're looking at the Zeb box, you're connecting via the charging/aux port from what you say.
If that's the case then it should appear as a set of headphones - as has been stated above.

First grab a set of ordinary wired headphones with 3.5mm jack.
Plug in to laptop
Right click on Volume icon>Select Master Channel (I'm working from memory here!!!) Select Pulse - if it's there.
Then using the Volume icon open the mixer and make sure the headphones are not muted. Should see a little green indicator at top of slider.
Test headphones for output - if they don't work then that's a problem - try with Alsa instead.
If they do work, switch on the Zeb box - connect via aux and see if that works.

Nope, it doesn't works. I have a desktop not laptop. and the desktop got two set of AUX ports. one set always gives random noise. another set is dead ! Am attaching the screenshots. I don't have idea how to do the same with Alsa.

regards,

Ragu
