Re: Waterleaf icon theme

On a related note, here's a sampling of the new icons I'm working on for Amarok (amarok-trinity). They're a combination of icons already existing in Waterleaf as well as new work using the same style. So far, I have a full set of size 48 icons. I wanted to get some feedback before working on the other sizes.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

They look great, absolutely. As mentioned earlier, the whitespace should be standardized somewhat, we are still working on a related document.

Thanks. Agreed on the whitespace standardization. These were technically built with the ElementaryOS standards for baseline, mean height, etc. just to try for a consistent look since they're all intended for one specific application.

I've updated the development branch with the full amarok-trinity ui icon set to include sizes 16, 24, 32, and 64 alongside the original size 48. Should be ready for testing if anyone's feeling up to it.

Thanks for taking the time to create this! I made some small modifications and uploaded the .gpl color palette file to the dev_guide folder for reference.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

Thanks, we appreciate the updates.
As we have found a few regressions since the last stable release, we are going to open new reports at the GitHub issues tracker https://github.com/jaerrib/waterleaf-icon-theme/issues
At the same time we believe, the issue tracker could be the right and more transparent place for discussion on the Waterleaf theme.
We will also open an issue related to the developer guidelines, although it's not an issue itself, more likely a discussion workplace.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

Thank you. I've been considering the issue tracker for some time, but it was early days. Now is probably the right time to start using it. That may help create a direction for the project as well. Hopefully, others will use the tracker to report bugs and papercuts.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

Newest stable version (20191025) released:
https://github.com/jaerrib/waterleaf-ic … g/20191025

- Added ui icons for amarok-trinity
- Added an initial developer's guide for contributing to Waterleaf icon theme
- Added color palette file for use in Inkscape
- Multiple TDE specific icons updated to better match Waterleaf color palette
- Fixed bugs/regressions introduced in previous development merge

Thanks to the Q4OS team for contributing the developer's guide, reporting bugs, testing and just being helpful! smile

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

Yes, another great release, we really appreciate such excellent work. At the same time we would like to invite anyone, who would feel a taste to develop and contribute in the Waterleaf project, for collaboration at GitHub https://github.com/jaerrib/waterleaf-icon-theme/ repository . It may be worth to try calling Trinity developers as well.

We will include the new Waterleaf stable releases into the upcoming Q4OS-4, based on Debian Bullseye. Q4OS-4 is now in preparation and should be available in a couple of months.

Q4OS-3 Centaurus will keep the current Waterleaf release to preserve an immutable experience for the current user base and follow the Debian philosophy to keep the OS as stable as possible.

Thank you for the praise. I'm learning a lot as I go, which is why I've stumbled here and there along the way. I would love to have others help out with the project. I've considered contacting the Trinity developers but haven't done so just yet. Incidentally, someone from the Papirus development team contacted me today with an offer of mutual assistance to generate full TDE compatibility for both Waterleaf and Papirus. It will be interesting to see what the future holds with that.

While it does sadden me somewhat that any progress made with the theme won't be available to average users until the next version of Q4OS, I agree on the Debian philosophy needing to be the guideline. After all, that's one of the selling points that attracted me as well. The delay also gives me a fair amount of time to continue polishing the theme. That said, is there an opportunity for backporting Q4OS-4 packages to Centaurus for users who want to opt in for such a thing? I think Debian does this more for applications than desktop or distro level stuff, but it's a thought.

Excellent. The Waterleaf Icons have really grown on me. I initially liked using the Crystal Icons when I first came to Q4OS, but now, I just have to use the Waterleaf Icons. Such a clean, well put together theme. Seems to mix well with whatever Colors, window decorations, cursor, etc. I choose to use. Not a lot of icons seem to.

Having access to the "evolution" of these icons regardless of my Q4OS version would be much appreciated.

I wasn't expecting that, but thank you all the same. In the interest of opting for stability over rolling-type updates, perhaps we could agree on a slower release cadence. For example, three or six months between releases instead of the monthly ones I was aiming for.

Yes, we agree, however development snapshots might be released for testing purposes time by time.

We have back-ported the latest stable Waterleaf icons release (20191025) https://github.com/jaerrib/waterleaf-ic … g/20191025 for Q4OS-3 Centaurus users. All back-ported Waterleaf packages will be available for download from our SourceForge repository:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/packages/

As you download the package, you can do upgrade or install it using "gdebi" installer, or in terminal:
$ sudo apt install ./full_path/waterleaf-icon-theme_20191025+q4os3.0-backport-a1_all.deb

should be

Just missing a full-stop (period).

I've been a little slower on the updates lately for a variety of reasons. However, here's the newest development snapshot including added missing icons, visual/stylistic improvements, and updated icons in the control panel.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

Thanks! Of course, I updated some more icons in the control panel (mainly ones in the device information section) after I posted the snapshot. I guess I had the itch to work on things after I got my kids to bed. Oh well, feel free to check out those updates, too.

Re: Waterleaf icon theme

I released a new dev snapshot for Waterlead a couple weeks ago and thought I'd post here for any forum users that might be interested in checking it out (alongside the Q4OS team of course.) It includes a variety of updates and rolled back some of the changes made to the size 32 icons that had been causing some visually issues.
