Re: Will Q4OS Linux Run on this ARM A9 Wifi Cloud thin net computer ?

Yes, it should work in general, as we prepare Q4OS ARM port, based on Debian Jessie armhf architecture. The CPU Cortex A9 is compatible, 512M memory is sufficient. The question is, if all drivers, wifi, etc ... will work. The only way to ascertain it, is test Q4OS directly on this hardware. Also, we don't know, if the hardware is unlocked for loading custom systems.

Bobby, this is better! Test it please!
Just a joke. It is too expensive.
But this is definitely worth to test. It has CPU: INTEL C1037U 1.8GHz, not Arm.

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Heck,  I actually like the look of this box better. Better yet, for $4 more it comes with a Com Port.  I have a device that needs to be connected to a Com Port. Both Arduino and RaspberryPiv use USB for programming. Sounds interesting.  So many decisions, so many choices. smile

Well, if I were you, I would buy this one. Those China devices often have bugs and defects, and also come with very poor support. That is why they cost so little.
But if you still want to experiment please do it. Just do not forget about HEATSINKS or COPPER! Otherwise keep your fire extinguisher ready smile
All for your experiments!smile

Hi Rademes, Understand about the China Syndrome Buying. Tried that with OBD-II code readers that never worked.

The Q4OS RaspPii pre-installed device you linked will work for me on my own projects but,

? What about a chrome book that's only $134 that I can install Q4OS ARM on and market to others. Chrome/Arm Dual Boot instructions here: Dual Boot ARM / Chromebook

C11 Chromebook link: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 … mebook-c11

Will this run Q4OS ARM ?
Architecture = ARMv7l Cortex-A17 | Processor Rockchip RK3288 1.8GHz
RAM = 2048MB
NAND = 16384MB
SD = Micro SD
USB = 2
Wireless =B/G/N/AC

Looks good, but Q4OS is not based on Arch linux. So the only way to be sure that it will work is test it.

Also, what about support there?
On the other side the Q4OS RaspPii pre-installed device I linked is 100% compatible with Q4OS. If it will work fine for your projects as you said, then i still would NOT recommend to buy anything else. There is a big chances that you will pay twice. Also keep in mind that it is ARM architecture, which is different than x86-64, so you will need quality support at the first time. I can`t advice more, because I don`t know your ARM architectures OS knowledge level.
Also, buying Q4OS device you will support Q4OS development! As I can see you always were looking for different methods to support Q4OS.

Re: Will Q4OS Linux Run on this ARM A9 Wifi Cloud thin net computer ?

Yes, You are correct !  The Q4OS.org device is on my to-buy-list and will happen soon.  However, I can't recommend this device to others as like you say, additional ARM knowledge is required and I don't have it.

What I need is a very cheap mainstream alternative that is dual Boot WinOS or Google Chrome and Boot Q4OS.

I mainly help poor people (like me = its my niche)  and these people can scrape together $100 but, not $300+.

Q4OS can be an effective tool in getting people off of WinOS in large numbers but, it has to be a viable consumer option.

1. Good Price

2. Boot both a WinOS or GoogleOS and Q4OS.

3. Name they can relate to: Google does that.

(IMO) Without the large numbers of people using and spreading word about this great Linux Distro, the mega bucks that are needed will not be available to speed up development.

Mega Users = Mega Bucks ?  Am I wrong ?

If it works with Arch Linux, It should very probably run Q4OS as well.
