Or - you could use this if you have smart phone
http://keuwl.com/apps/wifianalyser/

Absolutely brilliant - ad free - loads of info and especially handy going from room to room trying to bottom out no-fi spots.

Re: Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi radar

wifianalyser is good, fing (another smartphone app) also gives useful info of network, device and IP,
angryIP, a linux tool, also lists devices and ip address, if like me you have a number of old routers, give  openwrt a try, its firmware  for most models of router which gives a great degree of control.
I have a sdr (software defined radio) on order, another interesting project.

Re: Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi radar

I have openwrt on one of my routers, I seem to get a new router every year (or two depending on contract) when I change my ISP, a good way to accumulate spares smile But sometimes they have a hardware limit which will prevent it from being updated, although it is possible to bypass it but I am not a fan of de/soldering ic's with teeny weeny connections.

Re: Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi radar

I dont have those issues as Comcast is my ISP and they tend to lock you into their proprietary hardware which has some advantages as they are directly responsible for its entire well being. One router I have in my room but our house is wired so I send out the signals thru those lines even though its also wifi capable.
