Re: How can install Google Earth

You may get a number of different responses to your question all of which will be valid.

The current v7 client can be downloaded from either of these URLs depending in your system requirements.

https://dl.google.com/earth/client/curr … _amd64.deb
https://dl.google.com/earth/client/curr … t_i386.deb

Please note I have not used this version so cannot guarantee the above.
This is the GE download page as shown going via Google.
https://www.google.com/intl/en/earth/do … agree.html

I use the old version 6 client which requires i386 dependencies even on a 64 bit system. I do not know about the v 7.1.4 dependencies, but I have  a sneaky suspicion that it is a true 64 bit and so should be easy.

You may well find that it does not put an entry in the menus - in which case you need to create a desktop launcher /opt/google/earth/free/google-earth %f

There are other ways but that will work.

To install a .deb file you can either use command line sudo dpkg -i name_of.deb, or better still, install gdebi via synaptic or command sudo apt-get install gdebi - then right click on file and select Open with gdebi. This has the advantage that gdebi will pull in any dependencies.

GoogleEarth Pro is now also available for free but runs under Wine - http://google-latlong.blogspot.fr/2015/ … -free.html
No key required despite link - just use email address.

Re: How can install Google Earth

We have added google-earth packages into the Q4OS repositories, you can add 'extra' repository and install Google Earth from. Run in terminal:
$ echo 'deb http://q4os.org/q4os-extra jessie-cn main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/99-q4os-extra.list
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xdg-utils google-earth-stable

EDIT: fixed sources list path

We are sorry, there was a mistake in the first command, the right commands:
$ echo 'deb http://q4os.org/q4os-extra jessie-cn main' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/99-q4os-extra.list
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xdg-utils google-earth-stable

Re: How can install Google Earth

Try to install NVIDIA drivers from Q4OS Software centre.

Re: How can install Google Earth

I try that but say: "No NVIDIA card detected, or no related drivers available. Canceling installation." maybe my graphic card is really ATI and not Nvidia i dont know. But than so much for the support.
