Q4OS Update Manager 4.6 release

We have released an update to the Q4OS Update Manager, version 4.6.

This release fixes localizations, most noticeable in the German localization, but a handful of other languages. We've also dropped an unnecessary dependencies on the Trinity edition. Now the systray applet is pure TDE libraries based. Trinity users installing or updating Update Manager will no longer get dependencies pulled onto their system.

The update is being rolled out through the Q4OS repositories now. Existing installations will receive it automatically via the regular update process. New installs can get it from the Software Center, for both the Plasma and Trinity editions.

Re: Q4OS Update Manager 4.6 release

It was unfortunate that this update reverted the settings in 20auto-upgrades - thus disabling unattended upgrades.
The notification popup and window has lost its normal plasma decorations as well - is that due to the pure TDE components in some way?

Re: Q4OS Update Manager 4.6 release

The update of "q4os-updater" package shouldn't change unattended-upgrades configuration at all. If it did, it's a bug. However new installations may do that. We will investigate that. Nonetheless, you can easily turn unattended-upgrades on in the updater configuration.

It's a bit confusing to use Q4OS updater in the interactive mode and unattended-upgrades at the same time. Such configuration may inflict that two updgrade tools compete about upgrades and do the same thing at once.

The former systray applet has been based on Gtk libraries. Now both, Trinity and Plasma, use its native frameworks, so Tqt/Qt5. This is much cleaner and doesn't pull Gtk dependencies. We are aware the Plasma applet is now a bit stark, we are working to make it more polished. However the functionality isn't affected anyhow.

Re: Q4OS Update Manager 4.6 release

This is the unattended upgrades log from yesterday.
It ran OK first thing on power up, with nothing to do.

Machine was then powered up again 14:05 ish and u-u ran again - it is set to run always on boot.

So, one of these:-
libde265-0 libde265-0:i386 q4os-i18n q4os-swcentre-data q4os-updater made the change. My apologies I meant to say that "q4os-swcentre-data or q4os-updater" made the change - bad copy and paste on my part.

Bizarrely the q4os-swcentre-data package is not in my var/cache/apt/archives although the update is.

Looking at the updater it would seem unlikely, but perhaps you could verify the actions of the swcentre package please?

Re: Q4OS Update Manager 4.6 release

We can confirm q4os-updater-common package disables unattended-upgrades inadvertently. It's a bug. We have worked out a fix, so the next update will not touch the unattended-upgrades anymore. Thanks, for the report.
