Choose Memory: 1-2-3-4

Has anyone played with (or tested) Q4OS Plasma with different memory configurations? I have some Dell computers with 2 slots for memory. They came with a single 1gb stick and these ran poorly. I can upgrade using 1 and 2gb sticks, giving me 1,2,3,or 4 gb machines. If I use 3gb (2+1), will I notice much difference from using 4gb? Using 2 like sticks will run in dual mode while unlike sticks revert to single channel mode.  I plan to up-cycle these for resale in the $50 range. Thanks.

In addition to standard Q4OS features, I plan on installing Brave, Nicotine+, Spotify, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. All others can be customer installed.

Do not mess with anything less than 4Gb 2+2 configuration.
Yes I know you CAN run in less but there's a difference between running and being usable.
By the sound of it you are setting up machines for other people "All others can be customer installed" so you need to make sure the memory is reliable.
The only way to do that is to test it.
The best tool in linux is Memtest86.
You need to boot from USB/Live and then install it - some linux distros have it available on the boot menu - it's not there in Q4OS
If there's only a few machines it is probably easiest just to boot to live and then install and run memtest86
Any chip that is not 100% goes in the bin.
