Lightweight office suites?

Which office suites do you use or recommend?

I’m currently using Gnumeric, and it’s been great for spreadsheets. What I’d like next is a full-featured word processor as well.

I really like the look and feel of Microsoft Office 2007/2010, especially how it behaves on older or low-end hardware.
Back in college I used it on a very modest laptop without any issues, and that performance/“lightweight” feel is a big part of what I want again.

I’ve also tried LibreOffice and WPS Office in the past, on Q4OS, Xubuntu and Arch/EndeavourOS. The interface is nice, but they don’t seem as lightweight on my setup, so I’m leaning away from them.

What would you recommend for a spreadsheet + word processor combo that stays relatively lightweight?

if you're on Q4OS Trinity, i would recommend koffice-trinity. i mostly used it for document viewing since its extremely lightweight. If you use Q4OS Plasma, try out Calligra Suite.

You might want to try Softmaker FreeOffice.

It is a free version of their paid for office suite. It has much better file compatibility with MS products than LibreOffice etc.
Be aware that as a free package it is limited - it doesn't do a lot of the fancy stuff with tables etc.
You alone know what you need - but it's worth a try.
I use the paid version of Softmaker Office, have done since 2013.

This is an excellent suggestion. FreeOffice is VERY good for basic usage, and is, as bin said, actually very good with formatting compatibility with M$ Office.

I've also been using the Paid Softmaker Office for a long time, since like 2008, and will be upgrading to the new Softmaker 2026 shortly (currently in Beta).
