Re: Firefox preinstalled

Chromium is the default browser with my install of KDE, but certainly it takes but a few minutes to install whatever browser you prefer.
Q4OS software center has many browser choices.

After seeing various comparisons between Chromium and Firefox, I noticed that in some they are at the same level and in others one slightly exceeds the other and vice versa.

If Chromium was chosen as the default browser for Q4os, does this mean that it is preferable over Firefox, or could it have been any browser?

Re: Firefox preinstalled

I cant speak to how the devs made their decision to offer Chromium vs Firefox but yes it could have been any browser, if they saw it met their needs.
It's more about the needs of the user and what suits them best.

Even after this? https://thehackernews.com/2025/03/mozil … again.html

I used to prefer Firefox too, but honestly, besides two extensions, it has nothing better compared to Chromium. It was worthy before they decided to dump the privacy advocacy in favor of selling all your data.

Re: Firefox preinstalled

That's concerning.

But I am sure they've got the message loud & clear.

I'm long in the tooth & honestly, it seems like all the browsers have pulled stunts like this or worse ---

Do you remember DuckDuckGo doing a backroom deal with Microsoft  - or Brave injecting affiliate codes into URLs, secretly displaying ads on its new tab page, leaking DNS queries in its TOR window, and installing a paid VPN without consent. The list of exploitative shonky behaviour is almost endless.
