clipboard does not function properly

when i copy text with the built in clipboard it does not paste what was copied but seems to paste selected text from a previous clipboard entry
it is quite frustrating because it also doesn't copy selected text if i do ctrl-c  or right click copy quite frustrating as i often have to resort to selecting text and dragging it with the cursor to where i need it to go.
is there an alternative clipboard tool i could try or is there an easy fix to the code

If you are pasting text from a previous clipboard entry is that because you have copied text in a prog using Edit>Copy ?
Please provide output from inxi -Fxxxmprz so at least we can see what system and Q4OS version you are using.
If it is as laptop do you get the same results using external mouse as well as trackpad?

If this is in Virtualbox then you need to say so as that can make a world of difference.
