Network printer not connecting [Solved]

Andromeda 6.1 has been a real pleasure to test drive!

Small .iso and low resource footprint, all make it a tempting 1st choice for installation on older computers.

While HP Toolbox worked fine to install USB connected printer, it won't go through last step to install drivers on a network one.

Even after reboot or uninstall - reinstall.

Update: see my last post.

Re: Network printer not connecting [Solved]

Is network enabled and properly configured on your printer?
Is its WiFi enabled or is the Ethernet cable connected? Did you try another Ethernet cable?
Does it have a display where you can see whether it has received an IP address?
What are the IP addresses of your printer and of your computer (look at the output of `ip address` in a terminal)?

Re: Network printer not connecting [Solved]

Actually, the network printer is visible, the blue light is on, but the driver just won't follow through.

Usually, if there's an issue, the red light comes on and it won't get anywhere at all.

Take it that you do not have a network issue?

Re: Network printer not connecting [Solved]

I don't have access to any of my machines running 6.1 right now, cannot recall if system-config-printer made the final cut in 6.1.
Suggest you try to install it sudo apt install system-config-printer and then access Print Settings via menu.
If it doesn't even detect your printer then it's going to be a network issue.
The blue light indicates the printer has found the wifi but there's more than one protocol involved in getting it all to tie up.
Crucially what is the model of printer?

Re: Network printer not connecting [Solved]

'unable to connect to network printer....' are basically the words to the error message (even if printer is on).

Did fresh install to see if things were different, but no.

Then it dawned on me to go over and check if printer was installed, and lo and behold, it was!!

Did two tests and both worked flawlessly...

Boy! Do i feel like a dumbo!!!

Regardless.
Why HP toolbox eventually stops installation at "unable to connect" is a mystery.
