Going from Aquarius to Andromeda.

As I understand it, Q4OS recommends to

- backup what you need
- install Andromeda which wipes your Q4OS partition
- restore what you need

I’m reluctant to do this, so here are my questions:

- how long can I go on with Aquarius?
- are there guidelines to go from Aquarius to Andromeda?

What I like most about Q4OS is that it is even easier than Windows to install and manage.
This upgrade path, while I understand and approve it, is contrary to this benefit. Not so much for me, but it prevents me to recommend Q4OS to even less knowledgable others.

Until June 2028 at least, see https://www.q4os.org/downloads3.html If it works fine for you, we recommend to stay with Aquarius. Q4OS is designed to be stable, immutable, and fail-safe in long-term.

Yes possible, but not recommended, see https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4323 . You never know if an upgraded system carries some hidden problems caused by the upgrade. Such issues may show up unexpectedly years later. But it's the same for any OS receiving major upgrades including Windows, so it's not Q4OS disadvantage.

We wouldn't agree, this applies to any operating system that undergoes major upgrades, including Windows.
