I have used Q4OS because it still supports 32bit boot systems out the box. Installed with the classic method and it runs fine except that the notebook seems to keep flickering on and off.
I don't think it's a display driver issue because the wlan and other processes stop at the same time too and restart/reconnect when the screen comes back. I have pictures and videos if needed.
But any help would be appreciated bring some new life into this notebook.

A little bit of progress. It seems like the notebook is constantly trying to sleep. Yet to find a reason why.
I found it in the logs folder under the Auth document. There's lots of operation suspended trying to sleep.
It auto stops and wakes up if connected to AC but on battery power I have to click the power button to wake it up
