Hey, great forum and top system image!!
Question: Will Q4OS 5.9 be available with Debian 13 Trixie? Or can I update to 13 normally?
Is there any information on this yet?
Thanks
Offline
Q4OS 5.x(based on Debian 12) will continue to be supported but the devs recommend doing a fresh install of Q4OS 6(Debian 13) when it launches.

Question: Please! Does anyone know why the mouse touchscreen doesn't work on my laptop?
I've tried everything! It actually works everywhere, even on Debian, etc.!
The driver is there in the xinput list!
But the only thing missing is the touchpad working for clicking the mouse!?
The touchpad works!
But I can't press the touchpad with one finger on the laptop! Thanks

Devs will probably have to look at this, if it indeed does work in Debian but not in Q4OS. What hardware are you using? What version of Q4OS are you using?

Thanks, so I meant that in QuarkOS, the touchpad doesn't click!
So the touchpad works for moving with the mouse, but to confirm, I have to press the right or left mouse button on the touchpad!
So you can't single-tap the touchpad to select or open something!
Yes, it works in Q4OS! But I'd rather use QuarkOS Ubuntu!
But it seems like it's a general bug in 24.04 on some laptops!
It's not a big deal, but it would be easier to do everything with one hand!
If necessary, I use KDEConnect with my smartphone or a USB mouse!
Yes, it works for everything else, too, for example, on Windows 11 x Lite Optimum!
Thanks
So I prefer it working in QuarkOS instead of Debian ![]()
I like Ubuntu better!
The hardware is a Medion laptop.

P.S. I'm using Quark's Trinity, so
but I'll take another look at it tomorrow.
I'll try that.

Thanks for the info and yes its an issue with 24.04 with some hardware. They just released an update to 24.04.3 so maybe it will be fixed.
I use other Ubuntu based distros and I havent had the issue occur so far.

Upie, it works so simply:
Add this:
Option "Tapping" "True"
Open with:
sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/*libinput.conf
and enter
"MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*"
Option "Tapping" "True"
So there:
libinput touchpad catchall" and enter the following changes between the lines "MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*" and "Driver libinput":
Option "Tapping" "True"
Reboot and everything works!

Glad you got it working!

Ubuntu is moving to Wayland so lets hope there wont be a similar issue.

Thanks, that's good news!
The new system is great, thanks! News! I'm looking forward to it!
Okay, thanks, but no problem!
Actually, it was just a small entry!
I actually think it's better now that I can customize it myself!
whatever you want ![]()
Well, I don't really see it as an issue! You can add more if you like! But it's also good if you can customize it yourself! !
All I needed was this: "Tapping" option "True"
Here's a list: for those who don't know!
Super easy!
Option "SendEventsMode" "disabled-on-external-mouse" – If a USB mouse is detected, the touchpad is disabled.
"Tapping" option: True – This allows you to tap the mouse with your finger to click. If you don't use this option, you'll need to physically click the touchpad or press the bottom buttons to activate a mouse click. Once this option is enabled, you can activate a right mouse click with a two-finger tap.
Option "DisableWhileTyping" "True" – Enabled by default, but this is the setting.
"AccelProfile" "Adaptive" option – Enables the mouse acceleration profile. This makes the mouse pointer speed a bit more natural and less sluggish. "Adaptive" is recommended, as it adapts to your input. You can also use the "Flat" option.
"AccelSpeed" option: 0.3 – Changes the pointer's acceleration rate. Use values from -1 to 1. The higher the number, the faster the pointer becomes. Most people prefer 0.2 for a slower response and 0.5 for a faster response.
Option "TappingDrag" "True" - If this option is enabled, tapping and then holding the finger will press a button, so all finger movements will be converted into a dragging gesture.
Set the "Horizontal Scrolling" option to "True" – If you want to scroll from page to page. Personally, I don't like this. If you have a touchscreen, you can use the option on the touchscreen. It feels more natural on the touchscreen than on the touchpad.
ScrollMethod option "edge" – By default, scrolling on the touchpad is done with two fingers. If you prefer an older mouse with the scroll area to the right of the touchpad, you can use this option to enable this feature

Ubuntu 25.10 will move to Wayland only as many other distros are doing the same.

Hey, yes, thanks!
So I need to no reinstall QuarkOS with 25.10!
So can I perform the update with the terminal or updater?
That's what I meant, thanks.

Sorry to say I cant answer that question as Im not sure what direction the devs will go with QuarkOS. Ubuntu 24.04.3 just released so they really arent in a rush to change QuarkOS.

Question: Could a Gnome or Mate version be made in the future? Quarkos?
Plasma, Xfce, and KDE aren't that good!
Yes, Trinity is the best, and so is LXDE, but Mate would be cool too!

I don't believe the devs are going to put more resources into other DEs at this time. I cant speak for them but they've already got a lot on their plate.
