Strange app launching behavioor in TDE with multiple monitors

I like using TDE over KDE due to its lightness and as such, it typically runs cooler. However, it has a bizarre behavior I'd like to understand and maybe change.

I have dual monitors, one in "portrait" mode above my laptop monitor, and it seems that if the laptop display does not have an active app displayed (typically a browser window), but the top display does have an active app (again, browser window), when I launch an app (say a game), it launches in the TOP display. If I have a browser window open in the bottom/laptop monitor, the app will launch there. Weird!

I don't necessarily WANT a new app to launch in the top monitor when the bottom one is totally clear. Is there any way to control this behavior other than having an active app in the lower monitor?

EDIT: it now seems that it's not merely the presence of an open window in one of the monitors, it's which one last had activity. That still is "not right."

Yeah, it's been a while, hasn't it? smile

Not sure if I did or not. I'm now mostly using JWM and only venturing back to TDE when I need to do things that require the full Trinity environment.

I'll log back into TDE, try it out and report back. I might have found a fix but forgot about it when moving to other WMs like JWM and Openbox.

EDIT: NO, did not find a solution in TDE. JWM might have other windowing issues that are strange (like shifting my top monitor browser window to the right), but this particular issue is not in JWM. But yeah, it's still in TDE.

Re: Strange app launching behavioor in TDE with multiple monitors

I just enabled compositor in Trinity, and it's truly a luxury. It looks like a plasma TV, but when I connected it via HDMI, it was horrible because I couldn't set the correct screen resolution for my TV.
What was the solution?
Disable desktop effects via the Q40S welcome screen.
Maybe it'll be useful to someone.
