Hi to the Q4OS team. Please consider adding Synaptic as a base package to the minimal and/or "live" install edition(s). Right now, for example, when I try Q4OS, there's the Software Centre, which is nice and all, but it'd be also nice to have an application already installed that can help with installing programs, like Synaptic. I much prefer Synaptic over Discover. I hope this can happen sometime in the future. Thanks for this OS, too.

Ive actually posted this same request some time a go.

Thats certainly an option Germ and he can also install Synaptic thru the Q4OS software center(which he mentions in his post above). Many people prefer using a package manager over command line, because many times they come from Windows and thats what they are use to.
Its not an unreasonable request particularly for newbies.
Most of Q4OS competition as Debian based distros have Synaptic installed by default.

Don't forget that synaptic is a gnome application and therefore does drag in a lot of extra libraries, themes etc. Q4OS is a KDE based distro (irrespective of version). It may be equally argued that many may object to that on grounds of good taste

The purpose of the Basic profile is not to install end-user applications. This is to minimize setup and system load, and at the same time allowing users to choose what applications they want. On the other hand, the Basic profile provides a robust working base, ready to install and run end-user applications. Just a basic, clean and powerful desktop.
Installing Synaptic is pretty easy even for an ordinary user. Just click on the launcher in the Software center.

You may find useful to create a custom profile with Synaptic included to make your Q4OS installations faster and easier https://www.q4os.org/dqa016.html#boome

Its a shame Muon wasnt maintained, as it was a KDE app that worked a lot like Synaptic but didnt have the Gnome additions.
