Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

We have released new alpha iso, version "r7-testing-alpha" with some significant fixes. It's available for download https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/testing/

@Germ
It's not the special release we have talked about, but it's also worth to test for Q4OS tools crashes as they might be fixed as well.

OK.  I'll test it.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

Sadly, r7-testing-alpha behavior is exactly as r6.  Base system runs great.  Q4OS tools give the same crashes and freezes.

I only had one update.  libfaac

Thanks anyway. We will continue trying to find root cause of the issue. The special testing media will follow, we will post here as it's ready.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

We have released ".r8-testing-alpha" Plasma iso. It's actually the special release we have talked about as the Q4OS tools has been compiled by newer build tools and binary code optimization has been made more conservative. At the same time the tools are built against the most recent TDE libraries. Testing would be appreciated smile

In case of Q4OS tools crashes still persist, please run from terminal a few times:
$ /opt/trinity/bin/kdialog --msgbox "My test box"
and report back if it suffers from crashes too.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

Plasma r8 -
No change in behavior from r7.  Q4OS tools do not work.  Freezes and crashes.

Trinity r7 -
Will not apply desktop profile.  Says try again in a few minutes. error code: 109
Gave it a few minutes and tried again.  Same error.
Software Centre will not install anything since no desktop profile has been applied.

$ /opt/trinity/bin/kdialog --msgbox "My test box"
gives a kdialog that says My test box with an OK button

Ran it 3 times on each os, no change in behavior.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

@Germ
Well, we will work with the info you provided. We are still trying to reproduce crashes on Plasma. We might get hardware similar to yours in a few days, so maybe we will be able to reproduce and investigate further.

Yes, we are able to reproduce, so it's easy to fix this one. The issue actually comes from dependencies of the q4os-updater package, however the Basic profile should work fine.

In anyway, thanks for your time and really valuable testing smile

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

Ive been playing with KDE 6.4 with Neon just to get a look till the new Debian releases. Its been solid so far but some of the interface changes(where things are) I havent been wild about.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

I'm eventually going to get round to trying Artix which is adopting XLibre - the community release already supports it. Fore existing Artix installs there is a separate way of adding it.

@swarfendor437,  did you post in the wrong thread? Your post is in a thread about Debian 13 and KDE Plasma 6.3.5, not anything to do with XLibre.

Re: Debian 13 Trixie is on the way with KDE Plasma 6.3.5

My concern is Debian 13 will launch with KDE 6.3.5 but the recent KDE 6.4.4 is really nice and has a lot to offer. Its going to be tough to backtrack that far when the recent KDE is by far much better.
