Sometimes it happens that my cursor changes into a block (see attachment). This is very annoying to use the mouse. Does anyone know how I can easily reset this if this happens via shell or otherwise? This behaviour is on plasma. Now I have to restart my computer to fix this. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Try setup Opengl acceleration in Plasma systemsettings.

I don't know where to setup Opengl acceleration in Plasma systemsettings. So i use google. I think this is what you mean? Thanks a lot, i will try it. In my setup i have Openggl 2.0 already activated, but also have Openggl 3.0. Have to change it to 3.0? Also have an option XRender.
To find Plasma system settings in Q4OS and enable OpenGL acceleration, navigate to System Settings (often found under the menu, or by searching if you have a menu search bar). Within System Settings, find the "Display & Monitor" settings and the section related to "Desktop Effects" or "Compositing". Enable compositing (if it's not already) and ensure that OpenGL is selected as the compositing method. If the default is set to "Software Rendering," change it to OpenGL, which leverages your graphics card for better performance.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Access System Settings:
In Q4OS, you'll usually find the System Settings application within the main menu (typically a gear icon or similar). Some distributions may have a more prominent System Settings button in the taskbar.
2. Locate Display & Monitor Settings:
Within System Settings, you should find a section related to "Display and Monitors," "Desktop Effects," or something similar.
3. Enable Compositing (if needed):
Some systems may have compositing turned off by default. If so, enable it to allow for the use of desktop effects.
4. Choose OpenGL as the Compositor:
Within the Desktop Effects or Compositing settings, you'll find an option to select the type of compositing. Look for options like "Compositing," "Desktop Effects," or "Visual Effects." If the default is "Software Rendering," choose "OpenGL" or "XRender."
5. Apply Changes and Restart:
After making your changes, save them and typically, you may need to restart the system or log out and back in for the changes to take full effect.

Have to change it to 3.0? Als have an option XRender.
Try to set various options and see what happens. We would prefer to switch opengl off.

In KDE 5.27 you go to system settings>display and monitor>compositor(you can also go system settings, then quick settings and click the compositor icon). Make sure the box at the top is checked if you want the compositor to launch at startup( dont check if you want to follow the devs suggestion to turn it off), additionally some applications will block compositor when needed(you can disable this with the second box down at the top of the page). Xrender is no longer supported in KDE since version 5.23 and it defaults to OpenGL. There are no settings in desktop effects>advanced because of the default OpenGL detection. OpenGL choice will be determined by drivers/hardware being used.
Im a bit confused that you have those settings available.
