Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

The lxterminal app is my preferred terminal app. I can fire it up okay in TDE and it comes up in a square window of about 24 lines deep and about 40% of my monitor width. When I try to resize it, it shrinks vertically to only 3 usable lines. I can resize it horizontally just fine, but not vertically. IN CASE IT HELPS, if I fire up lxterminal from Konsole, these lines are spit out:

** (lxterminal:3965): WARNING **: 13:12:57.791: AT-SPI: Could not obtain desktop path or name

** (lxterminal:3965): WARNING **: 13:12:57.791: atk-bridge: GetRegisteredEvents returned message with unknown signature

** (lxterminal:3965): WARNING **: 13:12:57.791: atk-bridge: get_device_events_reply: unknown signature

** (lxterminal:3965): WARNING **: 13:12:57.791: atk-bridge: get_device_events_reply: unknown signature

I do not have this issue if I run in KDE, but I do not care for KDE.

Thanks for your support and this great forum!

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

So we suppose you are running in the Trinity desktop. We will try to reproduce and post back.

Yes, that's what I thought TDE meant! Please correct me if I'm wrong! smile

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

We can confirm this issue. It will be fixed definitely in the upcoming Q4OS 6  Meanwhile we are adding it to the buglist.

Thanks. No way to fix in Q4OS 4, eh?

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

Not now, it\s hardwired in Trinity code. Q4OS 6 will receive fixed TDE version. You can even download Q4OS 6 testing alpha  https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/testing/

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

Thanks, but I guess I'll just wait and deal with it now. I have too many tweaks I'd have to replicate in a new install, and the install would be interrupted several times by my laptop's thermal shutdowns (Nvidia GPU heat issue necessitating the GPU being completely shut off, not just merely not used).

Edit: I settled on a sort of suitable situation by setting the lxterminal display to 42 lines and 120 columns. That's a lot better without using the window maximize route.

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

Aw geez!!!! Apparently, some recent tweaks for things like themeing and such have mucked up my "sort of suitable" solution!

Now, when I start lxterminal, it immediately goes to a long narrow window and no amount of setting lxterminal's display setting overrides this now.

Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?....

EDIT: SHEESH -- even worse now. Geometry shrinks to 4 lines and 18 columns.

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

@q4osteam or anyone else -- if I HAVE to use Konsole terminal, how can I change its keyboard shortcuts so that the "paste" action is the usual terminal Ctrl-Alt-V combination? (It seems to be that for most, if not all, other terminal applications.) I just can't get used to Shift+Insert -- it ain't natcherl!

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

Konsole menu > settings > configure shorcuts > search and select "paste" action > click on the shortcut button > press ctrl+alt+v > ok > ok

Re: Window resizing issue with lxterminal in TDE

Thanks, @q4osteam, but I probably wouldn't have asked the question if I knew there WAS a "Konsole menu"! Where do I find that?
