Q4os KDE Plasma

Hello friends,

I used the Windows installation to install Q4OS on my main laptop (ASUS Vivobook).
The installation wasn't as simple as the documentation suggests. Selecting the Windows 10 / Q4OS options is done directly at BIOS startup using the keyboard arrows, as if it were a classic dual boot.
But in the end, everything went well.
I was pleasantly surprised to get the KDE Plasma version directly, which looks very nice, except that...

1-On this computer, printing and scanning are fine.
2-However, I lost the use of the touchpad, which is not recognized by Plasma.
3-I can't find a screen saver.

Any ideas?
I'm definitely not good at Linux...
Have a good week and thank you.

Re: Q4os KDE Plasma

At first initialize the Desktop profiler from Q4OS software center and install the Basic or Desktop profile according to your preferences. It will activate printing and maybe touchpad as well. If you will have any issues after applying a profile, please post here, we will try to assist you to solve them.

Re: Q4os KDE Plasma

He mentioned that his printing and scanning are fine.  Typically Asus laptops use F6 or F9 to disable or enable the touchpad so you might check that(could be a different F key).  Also try going to settings>startup and shutdown>background services and slide down the list and see if touchpad service is actually running amd enable it. If needed you might want to go to settings>input devices>touchpad and take a look at the settings. If everything is ok, maybe its a driver issue with the Asus Vivobook.
You need either libinput or synaptics installed for the touchpad to work.

About screensavers, they are no longer used by default in KDE and honestly most people dont use them any more. Instead the screenlocking feature is used with custom backgrounds but honestly screenlocking can be a real pain.

Re: Q4os KDE Plasma

solution trouvée sur forum Débian

Hello friends,
Another problem with KDE Plasma.
I can no longer use the numeric keypad, and I have absolutely no idea what happened.

Fixed.

Settings, Accessibility, Mouse Navigation, Use the numeric keypad to move the cursor = enable, uncheck (therefore, disable it).
Solution found on the Debian forum.

Re: Q4os KDE Plasma

You posted another thread on the numeric keypad(title of that thread says touchpad not numeric keypad) you might want to post your solution there for others to see. Glad you got it fixed but why was that setting enabled?  Its disabled by default in KDE.
