It's Debian.
You can read on our front page:
Q4OS goal is to provide long-term supported system receiving security updates. This is exactly what Debian base guarantees. We prefer the Debian development model to keep the core system as immutable as possible. It results in a reliable and stable system that you can definitely rely on ... https://www.q4os.org . There could be a few exceptions including Q4OS native tools, that don't belong to the essential system core.

Q4OS is the easiest way to get a fast Debian install, without the minor difficulties, that come with a Debian install, plus you get the added Q4OS features.
Regardless of this, I still prefer to have Q4OS branding versus all the stock Debian themes.

... for example Desktop profiler, which offers an easy way to get much lighter system than a standard Debian installation

I just learned about Q4os and did not donate when I downloaded Aquarius because I wanted to test it out first. This is a big "Thank You!" I have an older HP Mini which I had messed up--could not access the boot menu or the BIOS because I did not have the admin password. Thought I was going to have to spend money on a repair or junk it. I am also a Linux newbie but intent on moving away from MS Windows.
Long story short: I downloaded the Aquarius file to a Ventoy flash drive and the file's built in boot was able to access my Mini! I have since installed the program with a complete erasure of the disk--eliminating whatever was giving me grief--and it works great! I just took it to the library today and was able to attend to my tasks without an issue. ( I would like to figure out how to change that ugly orange "info" box color.) lol... Anyway, Thanks! And I will be making a donation now.

I have been using Q4OS since version 5.7 was released. I grew up with KDE 3 and am delighted with the Trinity desktop. However, I have noticed that I have been receiving daily updates for some time now, most of which require a restart. This is very inconvenient and makes it feel like Windows. Is there a solution for this? I suspect that I have installed a rolling release version. Is there also an LTS version? I just want to work with the system. I am grateful for any help.

@ommadawnandreas
Im presently using the Plasma version but I use to run the Trinity version.
Q4OS is not a rolling release, nor is there a LTS version, as its dependent on Debian releases. so that has nothing to do with the situation.
So much depends on the type of update, as system and security updates will require a restart many times. App updates rarely require a reboot, but it all depends on what youre running on your system.
When Debian has one of its big updates, you may experience quite a few added updates being pushed by the devs, as well as changes they need to make in the OS.
Overall I rarely reboot my system immediately for updates but it depends on what Im doing or if theres an issue. The difference versus Windows is you can choose when you want to update and dont have to update immediately.
It is what it is and frankly very similar to many other distros and their updating methods.

This message simply informs you that the update will take effect only after reboot. You are not absolutely required to restart immediately and you can continue to work if you want.
In my case, I continue to work until the evening, then I shutdown the system. The next day I boot, it is with the updated system.
