How to remove stubborn desktop icons [SOLVED]

I'm not a big fan of desktop icons in the first place. I'm running either in TDE with @seb3773's wonderful Windows 10 theme-ing, or in KDE Plasma with its wonderful Windows 10 theme-ing, and in both, there are two desktop icons I can't seem to get rid of -- the "Trash" and the "This PC". IMHO, both are superfluous and useless, but I can't get rid of them! Help!

If you are using the same home for both TDE and KDE then you will get some leakage.

Plasma>Configure Desktop and Wallpaper>Layout - Folder View
Desktop Folder = empty - so no icons

TDE>Right click desktop>Configure desktop>behaviour>device icons - change as you wish
BTW you'll find that in TDE a number of desktop items are owned by root not by the user.

This works with OOB TDE. if you have deployed a script that alters your desktop and your system then you may have issues that introduced.

@bin -- thanks, I'll give it a try! Yeah, I did use a script but I think the trashcan might have been there in the first place.

@q4osteam -- I have no idea how that happened. Just using the post-it tool. I noticed it but couldn't figure out how to delete the second post.

EDIT: thanks again, @bin -- your suggestion works in TDE, I'm sure it also will work in KDE.

Folks, is there a convention on how to flag a post as SOLVED?

@q4osteam -- actually, this appears to be a bug in your forum software. I see both posts from a search on my name, one shows views and replies, one doesn't, but both of them take you here. Weird!!!!

EDIT: okay, that appears to have been fleeting. I DID click on the one with no replies and one view, yet it took me here. Again, weird.

Yes, I actually reported it but its happened a number of times, including to me.
