Customized Live ISO with both Trinity and Plasma Preinstalled

Hello,

So glad to have found Q4OS. It is now my favorite recommendation for those running older hardware and well as those leaving Windows and MacOS. In fact, just yesterday I was able to bring back to live a 2008 Mac via Q4OS.

As I often deal with older and newer hardware, I would like to be able to show people both the Trinity and Plasma Desktops from the Live ISO without having to boot to the two different ISOs for Trinity and Plasma respectively. Of course, I can easily show them this once installed but I would like to do it via the live USB.

What would be the best way to accomplish this? I saw some mentioned of the S4 tool to take a snapshot of an existing install and maybe burn that back to an ISO or is there a better way?

Thank you for your time!

David

Yes, we would recommend to configure Plasma / Trinity dual boot and use S4-snapshot to accomplish that intent. You are welcome to ask an additional support here.

That worked great, thank you!

The only issue I noticed is that it removed the Q4OS branding in the boot splash screen and other areas in the generated ISO. For example, the installer now reads "Install Debian" rather than "Install Q4OS." It is a minor issue but is there any way to keep all the Q4OS branding in the generated ISO?

Thanks again!

One final thing... Is there a way to disable the auto login on the generated distribution ISO so I can select the desktop environment prior to logging in? I selected do not automatically login but that didn't seem to have the desired effect for the demo account. Maybe there's a boot argument to do so?

Thanks again for all your hard work!

It's possible to replace Debian with an optional string on the first dialog, when you create the snapshot.

Disable automatic login on your template system aand try to add "nox11autologin" boot parameter on the first dialog of s4-snapshot application.
