Re: recover login

Which Q4OS version are you using? Gemini or Aquarius?
If Aquarius, try this solution: https://linux.how2shout.com/steps-to-re … -12-linux/
If Gemini, try this solution: https://linux.how2shout.com/how-to-rese … -bullseye/

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Re: recover login

1. You have not answered my question. If you do not want to provide necessary information, nobody will want to help you.
2. Read again, carefully the solution, I have provided in my previous post. You do not have to press arrow, also the password should be changed not from the system. Read, understand, follow.
3. Do not make double posts in the forum. If you want to add information, use Edit button in your post.

Re: recover login

@Newbie:
Not sure I understand well your problem...
If you are logged in, then to display your username just open a terminal and type this command

$ whoami

You will see the username you are logged in with, and it is likely the same as the beginning of the prompt in the terminal.

Q4OS machines: [Samsung R519 - Pentium T4200 2.0 GHz - 4 GB RAM - 500 GB SSD] & [Sony Vaio - Pentium P6000 1.87 GHz - 8 GB RAM - 500 GB SSD]

Re: recover login

Thank You  Rademes and hcipher.  I did not provide further information as rebooting and constantly pressing an arrow key got me back into the system
I got locked out when trying to remove a pop up window with Ctrl + F4..    I had my password but not login - which I have now got from the Terminal
