Kernel driver not used for the GPU

Hello!
I've recently installed the system on a notebook and discovered that the nouveau driver for my GPU is not fetched by the kernel. I know this because lspci -v shows the following:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 620M/630M/635M/640M LE] (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
        !!! Unknown header type 7f
        Kernel modules: nouveau

There is no "Kernel driver in use" line present like it is for other devices, so the driver is not active, although compatible with the GPU.
So why does this happen and how do I make the kernel resolve this issue automatically, that is without me running some script on every system startup?
