Norbert Preining: KDE/Plasma 5.24 for Debian

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! smile

Plasma 5.24 is available via Norbert Preining's OBS repo.
https://www.preining.info/blog/?p=12663

As usual, I am providing packages via my OBS builds. If you have used my packages till now, then you only need to change the plasma5XX line to read plasma524. To give full details, I repeat (and update) instructions for all here: First of all, you need to add my OBS key say in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/obs-npreining.asc and add a file /etc/apt/sources.lists.d/obs-npreining-kde.list, containing the following lines, replacing the DISTRIBUTION part with one of Debian_11 (for Bullseye), Debian_Testing, or Debian_Unstable:

deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositor … TRIBUTION/ ./
deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositor … TRIBUTION/ ./

I was actually kinda surprised when I saw this available in his repos.  Very happily surprised, but surprised.

Yeah, me too. This is what he said to a "thank you, Norbert! Nice surprise" in the comments section:

You’re welcome. Probably because I have a higher level of “feeling of responsibility” then ... all those folk …

Re: Norbert Preining: KDE/Plasma 5.24 for Debian

Plasma 5.25 won't make it to stable. According to Norbert:

Plasma 5.25: 5.25.3 for Debian/testing and unstable, but not for stable, since it needs too new a Xorg.
Unfortunately, compiling Plasma 5.25 didn’t work out due to dependencies on newer versions of Xorg and related libraries.

Looks like the whole Xorg thing has been resolved smile

Sadly there's a bug which means you cannot install themes, cursors, icons etc. direct through Settings. It is known.

I'm totally ok with that.  kwin-addons gets me back flip switch & cover switch.  I install themes, cursors, window decorations, etc. system wide instead of per-user.
