set date and time automatically turns off after boot

I have dual boot and when I boot Q40s 4.8 it starts with the incorrect time and the selection for "set date and time automatically" is deselected even though I have checked the box prior. Once the box is selected time changes to the correct time but the automatica selection is removed after boot.

Is the time at least correct when you boot the other OS? And when you boot Q4OS, what is the difference between the correct and displayed time? an integer number of hours? The output from this command may be interesting:

$ timedatectl

In this case, try this: within the BIOS set the clock to UTC time and, for each OS set your time zone (specifying if possible that the internal clock is using UTC). Explanations on the problem in §2.3 of this page.

The problem is not the time.The problem is Q4OS does not automatically set the time after booting to ensure it is correct. I have to select manually automatically set time.

You was speaking of "incorrect time"...

Regarding the check box, after having changed its state you need to click on the button in the lower right corner, whose name in French is "Appliquer", and then give your password. Did you do this ?

I did apply after making the selection. Because the butto menu says "automatic" I was expecting it to continue to perform a time look upbut it does not. When I boot over from Win 10 the time is 4 hours back (I know how to correct the UTC thin) but when I saw set date and time automatically I could not understand why it would not always perform this function.

This seems to confirm my first thought: the problem comes from the dual boot Linux / Windows and I refer you to my first response. In short, by default Linux expects the RTC to be in UTC and windows expects it to be in local time; at the shutdown they synchronize it accordingly, which is misleading for the other OS, whence the 4 h offset.

This other page is also interesting to troubleshoot the issue and to understand why the option "Set date and time automatically" is not working as you expect, even though it works perfectly. From what I've read elsewhere, it seems preferable to have the RTC in UTC and to modify the Windows settings.

My expectation is that since it is described as set date and time automatically, I was expecting it to always set the time automatically.

Example if I start up from a boot and the time is incorrect it goes out and automatically gets a NTP time at start up to and sets the time correctly and does this always without me going into the time menu and manually selecting the button and applying every time. Also If it periodically automatically sets the time this would correct for time drift by bringing the time into correct values say for Day light savings time change.

I may of gotten excited at seeing automatic. If Q4 is not intended to automatically update through the GUI (I know it can be manually set up through NTP) I would only recommend that the automatic be removed and changed to sync.
