Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Hi there,

I got a problem with my desktop profiler - as it seems some "regular problems". I was looking on forum already before, but do not found any useable informations, which fits with my problem and helps me to solve it. Also searching by webbrowsers not helped to find something, so I start a new topic in case, I gain help here.

The problem isn't the using or to find the option. The exit-code is 30 when starting to download desktop profiler. Exit-code 30 = no internetconnection. Checked internet-connection = Fine. Used Ethernet in case having problems with wireless connection = Fine. Using Konquerer to go into Forum = Fine. Start to using Google = Fine. Also store useable (aslong as pop-up do not telling me to install desktop profiler before using any applications). So I starts to wonder me, why it not working. Maybe somebody can help here?

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Please run commands in terminal:
$ ping -n -c4 q4os.org
$ wget q4os.org
$ dash /usr/share/apps/q4os_system/bin/tst_dwnl.sh
and post back the terminal output.

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

We are not able to reproduce this issue. What iso file did you install Q4OS from ?

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Over all, I installed Q4OS 4.6 from an boot disk, delivered with an magazin.  "LinuxWelt" - to english "LinuxWorld" - had delivered in his magazin 2022/01 a disk with 5 OS - including Q4OS. I just installed it on my quiet old PC for reusing. If I shall check something specified on it, I'll do.

Edit:
Tried by myself above named commands on Boot-Disk. Following is different to installed version:
- dash-Command:
  dash: 0: cannot open /usr/share/apps/q4os_system/bin/tstdwnl.sh: No such file

Well, we would recommend you to use the latest Q4OS live image, you can download it for free from the downloads section of our website https://www.q4os.org/downloads1.html

The installation iso you have used seems to be outdated a bit, so it doesn't care about current certificates.

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Pre-Question:
Any possibility to upgrade system by command? Or just upgradeable by flashing newest?

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Yes, you can do upgrade of your installed system in terminal:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
Ignore some warnings about certificates and run once again:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
Now, you should be able to run the Desktop profiler as well as other Q4OS tools.

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Upgrade by command prompt failed. After a while, I started to reinstall it by the deliviered CD. Same issuses. Also when used link and created bootable USB-Stick with 4.7, issuses were still here.
Is there any specified connection required for using dekstop profiler-downloader?
Hardware-reports should be somewhere in your e-mailbox - if needed.

No, any regular Internet connection should be sufficient.

Again, we are not able to reproduce the issue, it must be specific to your location, or hardware. What is the output of the following commands ?
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

I checked by myself, if it'S the hardware or my router (because of that the question of specifications) and it seems to be my hardware. Don't know why because I check hardware before installing Q4OS.

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

You may only need to set the correct date/time. The commandline could be:
$ sudo date -s 2022-02-18
just set the real correct date.

afterwards try to upgrade the system once again:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
Ignore some warnings about certificates and run once again:
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade

Re: Desktop profiler don't want to downloading

Date changed and it starts working.

Well, software.

Thanks for helping.

Edit:

After a while, I also noticed, that the delivered disk was damanged - not physically, but in written code. So other OS became installed, but wasn't able to update. So, the issuse was also on the installed OS, not only the date.
