[New question added]Full featured desktop profile

Good afternoon!
I am going to install q4os-3.12-x64-tde.r4 soon.
1. Is it possible to see, which packages will be installed when I choose "Full featured desktop profile"?
2. Is it possible to exclude some package from installation when I choose "Full featured desktop profile"?
I need this because, I think, that "Full featured desktop profile" will install Google Chrome browser. But I need Firefox browser, because I have been using it for years already, and I do not want to change it. So I want to exclude Google Chrome package from Full featured desktop profile, install this profile, and after that, manually install Firefox.
P.S. I think, there should be a configuration file with list of installable packages...

Yes, please look at configuration files in "/usr/share/apps/q4os_system/q4os_swprofiler/" directory. you can modify them as needed. User profiles will be introduced in Q4OS 4 Gemini.

Can this file be edited on the fly? I mean, while in Live mode? so when I click install Q4OS that's what's going to be used? Had I known before...you should definetly put this info on the welcome box that pops up at startup...just saying. Or is it somewhere else and I just missed it?

No, it's not applicable in live media, however such feature as well as creating/editing custom profiles in a user friendly way should be introduced in Q4OS 4 Gemini.

How does it work then? Install, edit and apply the modified profile?

For Q4OS 3 Centaurus:
1. Install Q4OS
2. Optionally: remove unwanted packages manually
3. Edit a Profile
4. Use Desktop profiler to install desired Profile

New GUI way is planned to be introduced In Q4OS 4 Gemini to edit existing profiles, create new, or use shared desktop Profiles.

Re: [New question added]Full featured desktop profile

OK, I have modified q4os-desktop-buster.qdprrc file. I did not know, how to edit it properly, so I removed q4os-chrome and q4os-thunderbird from packages_esh= string. Then I searched for chromium, thunderbird, clementine words in Kwrite search, and removed those words from file. Looks like everything worked good. The profile installed successfully.
The only things I noticed, that K3B-Trinity was installed, but there is no icon in Start menu, and also it is not translated. Looks like this issue. Also AmaroK-Trinity has been installed, but I have not found it in q4os-desktop-buster.qdprrc file.
Modified profile file is in attachment (PDF copy).

Re: [New question added]Full featured desktop profile

Amarok-trinity has been pulled as a dependency of some package from the Profile. You can check reverse dependencies this way:
$ apt-cache rdepends amarok-trinity

Re: [New question added]Full featured desktop profile

I am sorry, but I have another question about Full featured desktop profile.
In q4os-desktop-buster.qdprrc file there is dolphin-trinity listed to be installed.
But why do we need third file manager? We already have Konqueror and Krusader. apt-cache rdepends dolphin-trinity did not show any packages, which depend on it...
It also pulls amarok-trinity and k3b-trinity as dependences...

Re: [New question added]Full featured desktop profile

We have concluded dolphin-trinity will be included in the Full profile, as it's easier and more user-friendly than Konqueror for ordinary users.

I will test Q4OS Gemini TDE soon, so can I modify Full Featured Desktop Profile in Gemini just like in Centaurus? Or there are some different steps needs to be done in Gemini?

Yes, Q4OS Gemini supports creating and modifying custom profiles, just right click on the profiles list and select an action from the context menu.
