Fix battery % always at 100%

Good morning and happy Easter.

I share here how I fixed the only hardware-recognition issue I had with the installation of Q4OS on a Eeepc 1015PE: the battery-percentage indicator.
It showed always 100% battery, therefore not giving any useful information about when to charge the netbook.

The battery is not original, but was replaced. In any case, it seems of good quality.
I previously had Windows 7 and Antix linux on the same machine, and there was no such issue.

Searching on the web, I found a post on mxlinux forum, which suggested to upgrade the kernel to solve the problem. I did so and now it seems to work well, showing correct battery percentage.

Steps required:
open Synaptic Package Manager and add the debian-backports repository from Settings -> Repositories
open a terminal and type: qinst-kernel-bpo
reboot the system

Now I have this kernel (info from Hardware Information on Q4OS Welcome Screen): 5.10.0-0.bpo.4-amd64 x86_64 and the problem is solved

Hope this helps! have a great day

Fiflagar

Re: Fix battery % always at 100%

Good morning.

Thank you for a good tutorial.

I used your study after installing Q4OS on my Asus 1005PX netbook.
Battery shows charge level correctly.

Well done, I recommend it.

Have a nice day.

You are correct, the backport repository is not enabled by default.
But, probably, the question is different. If Debian's GPL policy does not allow doing otherwise, can Team Q4os find a way to immediately install the kernel the user needs?
Regards.
