Translations

Hello Q4OS Team,

I´m a Slackware Linux user but a time ago I used Q4OS it for a while and at the time I translated the desktop profiler / welcome screen into Portuguese.
Now after 10 years of using Slackware I want to change a bit and I decided to go back to Q4OS Trinity. I would like to help with the translation again. I would like to know where I can do it because i don't remember very well how i do it at that time... I use Transifex, launchpad and webtranslate to translate many linux distributions but from what I remember here in Q4os this is done differently. You use github to store the .po files for translation, right? that is, I transfer the .po files from github, translate with poedit and send it to you q4os team the translated files, right?
Thank you

EDIT by admin:
Read https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3536

Thanks, any contribution is highly appreciated. There is the "q4os-i18n" project available on the GitHub here https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-i18n . If you are familiar with Git, you are welcome to directly contribute here. Just post your Github username, we will add related permissions for you. You could also download the project tarball, unpack it and modify the relevant ".po" files.

Re: Translations

By the way, you don't need to be member of the project even registered on GitHub, you can just download the project tarball using this link https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-i18n/a … master.zip

Re: Translations

Ok thanks.

By the way, I'd like to say that I've uploaded the pt_pt files fully translated and reviewed, directly to the src of q4os-i18n-master in GitHub.

Cheers,

Hugo Carvalho
hugok

PS: Some of the programs that I translate to portuguese and that I liked to see installed by default in the desktop profiler (full) were qbittorrent and SMplayer ...

Re: Translations

I have also fully translated and corrected the live installer PO portuguese file.
There were some errors and lines to translate.

I sent the .PO file to develop@q4os.org

Cheers Q4OS Team

Re: Translations

I have been updating the Portuguese translations (pt and pt_PT) in github.
By the way, there's no need to have both: pt and pt_pt in q4os-tools
Only pt

best regards

Re: Translations

Today I will finish the revision/translation of all the .po files (Portuguese) and I'll do the uploads to https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-i18n.
These updated translations will be part of the new version of Q4OS Centaurus?

Re: Translations

Ok, me and all the portuguese users who use Q4OS would appreciate that.

Meanwhile I'd like to say that all portuguese translations are 100% done and uploaded to Q4OS GitHub.

Best regards.

Re: Translations

@q4osteam

Done.

I've made some minor corrections to the translations.
Some of the corrections are due to the translations of the word 'Discover' and 'Synaptic'.
I already uploaded the translations directly to github.

Looks perfect now!

Thanks q4os team.

Re: Translations

Do you want me to finish the pt_BR(Brazilian Portuguese) translations also?
There are only minor differences in the language but I can make it perfect for them.

Re: Translations

Hello @q4osteam
In the .po file "q4os-shortcuts" there are strings that are the name of the wallpapers...... should I translate too? What do you guys think?

My opinion is that some can be translated but others can't.

Re: Translations

You can translate them too, the translated names appear in the wallpapers combo-box selection. However it's not so important, they could keep its English names too.
