Edit .conf files

Trying to get my trackpad working. Kind of sorted now just need to make some changes to the .conf file.

Problem is I'm unable to edit  and the save the file. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Edit .conf files

What file are you trying to edit?
If if is a system file you would likely need to edit with root permissions like this

 sudo nano /path/to/file.conf

and if you use nano you can save the file using Ctrl-x then y then enter

Re: Edit .conf files

If you would prefer a gui method to edit a file with super user permissions, you can run file manager in root mode from the Start menu > Programs > Accessories > System > SuperUser > File manager - super user mode , navigate a file to edit and double click it.

Re: Edit .conf files

OK, thank you. That worked.

Been trying to get the two finger scrolling working on a Lenovo 320S now all done. Whoop whoop.

After come back to an alternative system after a Mac this is a positive. Windows 10 decided to hard reboot twice in a week couldn't live with that - what has happened to Windows?

Thanks for your help, thanks for Q4OS

PS will make a payment this week - it's certainly worth it.

Re: Edit .conf files

I multi-boot with Win10 as one of them and although I am not a fan it does seem to be working ok on my machine, I've never owned a mac so cannot compare myself but I'm sure Q4OS will prove to be a worthy replacement. smile
