VLC update won't install

A short time after I log on, an amber icon appears in the taskbar. When I click it the Package Updater lists one update available as follows:

q4os-vlc for Q4OS
q4os-vlc-1.4-a1

When I try to install the update a box comes up with the following message:

"Failed to process request."

I click "More details" and get this message:

E: h**p://q4os.org/q4repo/ q4os-1-0-cn/main q4os-vlc all 1.4-a1 is not (yet) available (404  Not Found [IP: 81.95.96.231 80])
(replace ** with tt)

The update appears to be for VLC Media Player. (Installed version 2.2.8 Weatherwax)
It has happened over a period of several days with the same result. From memory this Q4OS installation started life as Orion 1.4.8 32-bit.
How do I fix this?

Please run a few commands in terminal and post back the output:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
$ ping -nc4 q4os.org

Thanks for the help.
Before I got around to typing the commands in terminal two more updates appeared, one of which was for

q4os-vlc for Q4OS
q4os-vlc-1.4-a2

which is a later version of the one I had trouble with in the first place so it appears problem solved.
