Re: I'm so weak...

I still haven't gotten around to trying the Fedora version.  I have off work Monday but the wife works, so might do that then...

Re: I'm so weak...

Im going to give it a try as well as Ive always enjoyed Fedora but the short turnarounds and constant minor issues tended to lead me away.  Im actually surprised we havent seen more TDE based distros or offerings.

100% agreed.  I constantly WANT to like Fedora, since I'm a giant proponent of RHEL/CentOS for servers, but the super short upgrade times and constant MASSIVE changes (a given considering what Fedora is to RH, but still) mean it just keeps staying at #3 of my x86 hardware distros (behind Debian and Arch, which Arch IMO has it's own issues, but I end up liking it more nowadays than Fedora).  Q4os I look at more as a speciality distro , so don't rank it, just in case anyone wonders why I don't rate it in my list.  However, in terms of speciality (lightweight) distro's, it is my favorite.

Re: I'm so weak...

Same here as I look at Q4OS as a specialty distro as well.   MX Linux and Q4OS are my two favorite specialty distros right now.  Ive been an RH/RPM guy for quite awhile so Ive got Mageia at 1, followed by PCLinuxOS, then Linux Mint, with Fedora in fourth.  I tried Gecko Linux and was very pleased as it didnt have the nagging issues OpenSUSE had, similar to Korora with Fedora.

Yeah, I've build a few antiX/MX machines into plasma5 machines.  In the end, the whole systemd-free thing is, for my preferences, the only reason I'd want anti-X/MX, and it's not THAT big a deal to me (I dislike it, but not enough to go out of my way to avoid it).

I just like MXLinux, particularly the attention to detail, MXTools a nice feature particularly for newbies. They make an effort to include many features to make users lives a lot simpler.

I have been using antiX from December 2016 till the end of December 2017, until I typed a wrong command and my entire hard drive was wiped out completely sad Such "great" New Year present. And I haven't reinstalled it, because in my opinion antiX is VERY difficult for novice users, it was difficult to set up correctly even for average Linux user like me. I had to make a LOT of configuration file modifications even for basic operations. I remember, it took me 1.5 months to set up antiX completely! Record!!! Even my first distro (Ubuntu 10.04) was ready for usage after two weeks of setting and forum-reading. So now I am using Mint 18.3 XFCE. I want to take a brake, and have a distro, which "Just works out of the box"! I also wanted to try MXLinux17, but, Mint was "closer" to me.
Speaking about my Linuxes in general:
2010-2012 Ubuntu 10.04
2012-2015 Windows XP, because Ubuntu 11.04 had shitty UNITY interface, or it's better to say FUCKITY interface!!! Perhaps, I'll be able to tell you, how I HATED this .....interface only on my native Russian language... Also I wanted to play games!
2015-2016 Linux Mint 13 Maya MATE
2016-2017 Q4OS LINUX Orion
2017-2018 antiX 16 Berta Caceres and Q4OS Orion on another PC
2018-.... Linux Mint 18.3 XFCE
Also I have tried about 10 another distros, but all of them had something I hated....so I listed only those, which I really liked.

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Re: I'm so weak...

Id rate MX Linux 17 in the same class as Linux Mint 18.3 XFCE as it just works out of the box. Recent reviews confirm this and its becoming very popular.

PCLinuxOS 2018 is another thats excellent out of the box.
