'Scorpion' 2.4 on vintage ThinkPads ...

I have a couple of old ThinkPads (T60 and X32 circa 2006) which have Windows 7 and XP
respectively installed on them.

Both have now been installed with 32-bit Q4OS (X32 required the non-PAE flavour).
Both installs went cleanly and performance is very good - considering the hardware.
No problems with the dual-boot setup.

I did have one small problem on the X32 install as I was unable to install Firefox from
the Software centre. Every attempt causes the message
"Unable to download Firefox, check internet connection".
There is nothing wrong with the internet connection and indeed other software installed
correctly. After a few failed attempts, I used Synaptic to install Firefox.
I see on another thread that there is a new Firefox installer, so I wonder if this is the problem ?

Credit to Q4OS and indeed the underlying Debian system to run so well on hardware of that age.

Yes, it was a glitch, now it's fixed. You can install Firefox from software centre now.

No doubt Q4OS is an exceptional distro for older hardware and has become known for that. If the devs maintain the 32bit version many users will benefit from using it. My experience with friends and clients with older hardware has been excellent and saved many from having to buy new hardware they really cant afford.
