Just started a new website to help promote q4os

I have just created a small website to try and help new q4os users with basic things like preparing and installing q4os. I would love it if anyone would care to visit my site and offer feedback or criticism, I am not a web developer and have set this up with £0 cost (excluding my time smile ). I hope to provide more illustrated examples of how to do things that users may have issues with.
I have put a couple pages up for now and will put up more information as I have the time. Any suggestions would also be welcome and I could (if there is enough interest) put a page detailing what I will be working on in the future. The site will not be entirely Q4OS as I plan to put similar information for Debian as well, but I will initially be concentrating on Q4OS.
Anyway, here's the address if you would like to take a look and remember positive or negative I would really love some feedback.
www.dsbnet.tk

Thanks

Dai

Re: Just started a new website to help promote q4os

Yea I was thinking of going through the forum to see what issues people have had and then put up some information and guides relating to them. I will probably do something on changing the themes, and anything that gets suggested really. if you have any other ideas or suggestions I'm all ears. smile
And I wanted to keep it simple, as that is how I prefer things, and like I have said before I'm not a web developer so simple is probably not just a choice.

Thanks CC, That's really good to hear cool I've also added a click counter to the site too, so I will be able to see where users are visiting most, can't really report any findings on that as yet though, bit too early for that smile

Re: Just started a new website to help promote q4os

I have a new website (dai-trying.com) and have created some pages for the installation guide, it can be found here I will also be adding other Q4OS related guides and if you want to see something give me a shout. smile

The old site will still be available for the time being, but will be removed at some time in the future.

Suggestions?

Resolving sound issues. Distro and hardware issues.

Resolving network issues - again Distro and hardware issues.

Unrecognized hardware - how to discover it, where to find drivers and how to install them. (network and sound cards, as an example)

Malware - recognise and eliminate when needed.

Hmm... not quite what I had in mind, but I'm sure I could put something together, I'll post when it is available, Thanks for the suggestions Jim smile

You are correct CC. However, instead of having to "re-invent the wheel" each time, if they are all in one location you can point people to them more easily. Then if they have further problems you may be able to help more.
You, Dia-trying, and Q4OSteam have been doing a great job. But with more people, and more posts, it seems as though you often get the same questions. I do know that most of those questions are answered somewhere in the forum, but even you probably have to do a search to find the relevant post.

Re: Just started a new website to help promote q4os

When I mean forums I mean in the tutorial/how to section and it would be easy to search that forum for results. Q4OS data though will be kept separate for easy access but general Linux how tos it would be difficult to keep that many topics stored without having to do a search. Down the road specific areas for audio, graphics drivers could simplify it further within the hardware forum for instance.

FAQs though for the most common questions are a great way to handle those constant responses.

Ill add topics as more questions/needs arise and as the site grows yes, Ill have to search for things just like everyone else. I work for a much larger tech site and we've gone to great lengths to simplify things but even with that we still have to search for some things.

Yes, it's a great deal, it would be highly helpful for Q4OS to have some tutorials, what we could refer users to. It's much better then searching across a forum topics. Thanks for the great job.

Thanks guys, I am currently working on the main front-page for the site and have already posted a few tutorials but they are really just an updated version of my installation guide and a conky guide,

For anyone wanting to check out my tutorials and guides they can be found here please be patient for new content as I have a lot to get through at the moment but will be adding as much content as I can as soon as I can. smile
