Video Flicker

Remember that my Linux knowledge is at Elementary school level.
I installed Q4OS Plasma, got wi-fi working, and installed 3 programs (VLC, Brave, and Pinta). The problem seems to be related to video and I get flicker and jumping of the characters. My video card is an ATI Radeon HD. I removed Plasma and installed Trinity. That solved the video but not Bluetooth. It works under Plasma but not Trinity. Returned to Plasma, it seems my 32 in monitor was causing the flicker. Now wi-wif and bluetooth are both working.
