Install Python 3.12.5 on Q4OS 4 (Debian 11 bullseye)

Did anyone here update from Python 3.9.2 to Python 3.12.5 as described here:
https://aruljohn.com/blog/install-python-debian/

Should it be applicable?

Thanks!

Re: Install Python 3.12.5 on Q4OS 4 (Debian 11 bullseye)

As I already wrote somewhere else, a time ago I installed a more recent version of sqlite3 from source than the one available in repositories and that corrupted my system. So I never wont (and I don't advice you to) compile Python from source and install it over the already installed version, nor even in a separate directory.

If 3.9.2 is really not usable for you, you would better install Q4OS 5 which comes with Python 3.11.2 or Q4OS 6 (beta at the time of writing) which comes with Python 3.13.5 (see the versions available in Debian repositories).

Another option would be to compile from source and use the resulting binaries without installation, provided this process would not require dependencies conflicting with packages already installed.

Did you read the "Comments" section at the end of that tutorial and don't they already answer your question? If it really works in Debian, it will work in Q4OS.
And did you see in the "Related Posts" section that other tutorials for even more recent versions of Python (up to 3.13) are available?

Oh no, i'd never replace the 3.9 version - just use the more recent release without installation in a special situation.
I'll report my result/success here later. Thank you!
