Partition Icons on the Desktop

Hi,
when i open system:/media in konqueror, there are (disk)icons of all the pertitions of my system.
i'd like to copy one of these partitionicons on my desktop (to be able to mount it more easyly).

1. What will happen if i drag&drop a partition-icon from konqueror to the desktop:
a) it will create a copy of the partition-icon on the desktop (as desired)
b) it will move the partition-icon from system:/media to ~/desktop
c) copy the partition content to ~/desktop
d) or something else?

2. What will happen if i copy&paste a partition-icon from konqueror to the desktop:
a) it will create a copy of the partition-icon on the desktop (as desired)
c) copy the partition content to ~/desktop
d) or something else?

Thanks

Re: Partition Icons on the Desktop

You should be able to do this via:-
Rt click desktop>configure desktop>behaviour>device icons
Check the ones you want for mounted and unmounted devices - or just select all and remove the ones you don't which can be quicker!

Oh nice, thanks, i didn't know this. But then all six partitions appear on the deskotp, and (Q4OS 4 here) it's not possible to deactivate the 5 partitions i don't want to see on the desktop (i'd like to see only the icon of one (single) NTFS partition which i use sporadically...).

Re: Partition Icons on the Desktop

Then I'd suggest mounting the ptn permanently via fstab. Then use rt click desktop>Create New>Link to device>Hard disk device and pick the relevant entry from the fstab listing displayed.

Re: Partition Icons on the Desktop

Thanks again bin: that would mean to mount the ptn per default. i'll think about that option...
