Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

I needed to uninstall Q4OS from inside my WIN 10 pc and reinstall it to increase the allocated disk space for the program. Unfortunately, I did not realize that the installation process would need access to the internet. Apparently there was some interruption to the signal from the internet and I ended up with an installation failure: Worse. I now cannot boot Q4OS or WIN 10! Is there any way to recover from this disaster? I would like to attach a photo (jpeg or png) in this post of what the boot screen now shows but I am having trouble attaching it.

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

Q4OS doesn't affect your win10 installation. You may only need to select Windows EFI boot entry in the BIOS. Afterwards run Q4OS installer again.

That did not work. Still tries to boot into Q4OS Aquarius but stops with this command: (initramfs)[24~

How can I post a jpeg or png?

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

This pc will not longer boot from the windows boot manager. It by passes that and goes directly to Q4OS. Attached is a photo showing the Q4OS boot screen and where it stops. However, I could not get the photo to appear in the preview.

Well, how did you install Q4OS exactly ? Please specify Q4OS installation media, steps and settings throughout the install process, partitioning of your disk.

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

On my other pc that has a good internet connection I downloaded the Q4OS file for installation within Windows: q4os-winsetup-5.8-r1. I took that file to the other pc that has the poor internet connection (300 feet away) and copied it there. I was thinking that the installation would not use the internet to do the install, but that is where the trouble started. q4os must have faltered due to the bad internet connection. I really don't think that WIN 10 can now be recovered, and since it will soon not be supported by Microsoft maybe I should just install q4os as a stand alone operating system. Fortunately I had just done a major backup of my important files.

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

I was attempting a 128 mb partition since the default of 20 mb is not sufficient for program updates.

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

Well, so you have used winsetup executable. We don't think the install process could harm your Windows 10 as it only creates loopfile and modify bootloader. It doesn't modify existing Windows installation nor partitions.

- Does your computer feature EFI or legacy BIOS ?
- What happens, if you enter BIOS and select Windows boot record ?
- Would you post a screenshot as you enter BIOS's boot records table ?

Re: Q4OS installation failure due to poor internet connection.

I was finally able to reboot WIN 10 by going in to bios and selecting Windows Boot Manager, but the next boot after leaving WIN 10 went right back to Aquarius and would not complete the boot. I rebooted WIN 10 as described and then decided to uninstall Q4OS. Since Q4OS had somehow taken control of my boot process I decided to simply uninstall Aquarius. I did not reinstall the Q4OS. I just let the install program uninstall the old Q4OS. That did permit my next regular boot to go directly into WIN 10. I have been wondering if my request for 128 mb of space for Q4OS somehow causes the trouble. I may try one more time to install inside windows but request less disk space. I will also re-download the win install file in case there is some kind of corruption on my original download.
