Bios issue ?

Hi all,
After all the help I received with memory issues in my post "out of memory?" I continued testing. Turns out what happens is my
Home directory quickly runs out of resources when I am actually doing something, especially opening more than one window.

Long story short, I decided to add memory and found a 240 GB ssd. The idea was A/move some data to the new disc,
B/possibly install Linux alone on it, depending on the outcome of "A".
To that end I connected my new disc to Sata connector "1" leaving my main disc in connector "0" .
On startup the screen showed both discs, but also a message I now can't recall, but it had to do with the new disc, and this
is probably where I messed up, choosing "standard settings" or something like it.
Rebooting, the familiar choice of w10 or Aquarius comes up, and the many lines of code, also as usual, but.....
the mouse prompt changes to Linux style, but then nothing.
Also, failing an alternative I shut down the computer with the power button - then a lot of lines of code appears again, recognizable as the normal shutdown procedure.
Comments on this ?

What specific files and data are filling up your $HOME ?

Re: Bios issue ?

I will check as soon as my system is accessible again (see the rest of my post) Guess it should be possible to increase the directory, but, again, it shouldn't be that dependant of memory (?)
What bugs  me about the non-starting issue is that my shut-down attempts look perfectly normal, as if the system was indeed up and running;
could it possibly be just that, and for some reason this uppstart takes (much) longer than usual to finish ?   Let's time it....
