Basic Install
Testing in VM using X11
Using standard Breeze Global theme.
Right click on Launcher>Show alternatives
Select Application Menu Cascading Popups>No change still on Application Launcher
Selecting Application Dashboard does work as expected.
If I go Rt click>manage widgets then the Application Launcher and Application Dashboard widgets show as New - but no instance number
The Application Menu widget shows 1 instance.
If I remove that and then add the Application Launcher, move it along the panel and then rt click >Show alternatives the Application Menu is there and works OK.

We will take a look, thanks.

Just checked on laptop installation and it is OK on Wayland, but the same issue appears on X11 so it seems X11 is the common factor.
Very odd - tried again and it is OK this time - or it is a very slow change..... odd.

By the way, do Q4OS tools, Software center, Desktop profiler, Application setup, run properly ? There have been a report of tools crashes in Plasma on certain hardware, so we are trying to gain some more information, see https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.ph … 290#p30290

So far I have not seen any of the issues reported in that thread.
The issue with the Menu Alternatives is less prominent with alpha8 then with alpha7.
However there is still an issue with the Application Menu Cascading Popups, which I hadn't noticed before, and that is that when enabled it does not display any configuration settings, the window appears but there is no content in the General tab.
I have also noticed in both 7 and 8 that the mouse over menu changes are very 'skittish' - far too quick even with animation speed set to slow.
Oddly, 6 and 7 ran OK in Virtualbox using Wayland. 8 is back to the normal issue I get with Wayland in VB with random graphical corruption - but I'm guessing that is just a Vbox issue.
EDIT:-
I've just done an install of vanilla Trixie+Plasma and the issue with the empty configuration tool is still there. That part is therefore upstream Debian.
Testing with EndeavourOS - Arch based - Plasma 6.3.3 / Frameworks 6.12.0 / Qt 6.8.2 shows no such issues.
I wonder if the slow response to change in Q4OS is linked to menu (re)generation?

We can confirm the issues described, we will try to work it out. Any additional info is appreciated.
