Timeshift - What to Exclude

Hey All,

New to Q4 (and Linux). Got most everything set up now, so ... backup time.
I've tried both FoxClone and Rescuezilla to do full backups. Happy with both.

And then for doing a system backup, I've tried Timeshift. Erm ... a couple times now. Borked 'em both! Yeah, really.
What!? I know it's supposed to be easy, but ... the part where I said "newbie". wink
Still trying to wrap my head around the whole "everything is under /" thing.
Apparently even separate partitions. (Wait, why is the BU process taking so long and looping and filling up the partition with the same stuff over and over???)
Okay, cancel that. And start again. And again. heh

So ... quick question, aside from: /, /root, /home, /var/lib/libvirt and Any and All "other partitions" that fall under root, what would you suggest Excluding from a Timeshift backup that isn't necessary for doing a restore later to get "just the system" back to where it was?

Eg. - can or should these (and others) be excluded: /tmp, /mnt, /proc, /var?

Re: Timeshift - What to Exclude

Timeshift works great on all my four computers.
You definitely have done something wrong. I include everything in /root folder and only hidden files in my home (/home/denis/) folder.
Everything else I leave as default.
But, I have to say, that I have very simple disk layout on all my computers. Only two partitions: root partition and SWAP partition. Not even separate /home partition. The simpler disk layout, the more stable Timeshift.
