Windows installer is by far the easiest method to install Q4OS. You need no partitioning and it's more quick installation way. Dual boot doesn't depend on Windows installation, so it may be more reliable.

I saw 2 disadvantages to Windows installer:

- fixed disk size
- vulnerability of complete OS on a single file

When I first installed Q4OS I used the Windows installer This is very convenient and easy.
But you have to choose your disk size up front, I remember it was not so eay to grow later.
I also felt uneasy with my whole system relying on a single Windows file.
After these considerations I switched to dual boot which gave as a bonus the satisfaction of working with a Windows free system.

For evaluating Q4OS the Windows Installer is ideal and definitely a great feature of Q4OS.

Yes, I think exactly the same things. I'm also concerned about the disk access performance, is it the same within a windows file or are there any penalties ?

But:

For evaluating Q4OS the Windows Installer is ideal and definitely a great feature of Q4OS.

I think you're right too, this a is a very good point for Q4OS, because this way it's easier for evaluating than doing dual boot or VM testing.
This is a very good option that you can install Q4os this way.

Read/write performance is slightly better for the dedicated partition, but the difference is not significant and even not noticeable for common operations.

I have used the Windows install and have had no problems for a year and have no issues. I also did not dedicate enough disk space to Q4OS at first but later updated it to use more disk space after the fact. I love it and it has been bullet proof. I have had other computers that had dual-boot and don't see any advantage one way or another.

There is also debate about settint up a swap file vs swap partition vs zram.

What do you think is best for SSD installation?
