Upgrade from Gemini to Aquarius

Hello,

I have installed Q4OS 4.12 Gemini on a very old 32 bits laptop (DELL D610 of 2005) for 6 months and I am very happy of this choice smile

I have seen that a new version of the OS has been released.

Is it a way to upgrade my computer from Gemini to the new Aquarius 5.2 version without loosing all my documents and personalization ?

Or must I install the new version from scratch with a disk formatting sad ?

Thanks for your help.

Patrick

Re: Upgrade from Gemini to Aquarius

Often asked question.
See for example https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4323
Or use the search tool to find other posts.

Anyway, make a backup of your entire user directory (including hidden files and directories) to be able to restore your files and program configurations & settings if they are lost during installation.

Re: Upgrade from Gemini to Aquarius

Hello,

After having done all the steps described in the indicated link and rebooted my machine, I lost firefox and cannot reinstall it ...

When I try to execute "sudo apt install firefox", it says that the package "firefox" has no version available for installation (in French : E: Le paquet « firefox » n'a pas de version susceptible d'être installée).

How can I solve this issue ?

Re: Upgrade from Gemini to Aquarius

I have found a solution : install the package "firefox-esr" instead of "firefox".
