So to start I have been working on this system for a bit and this morning it stopped working to connect to wifi networks. Correction, it connects but there is no internet.
I had been working on setting up havp but changed my mind. I may have edited a file some where and do not remember. I do remember that I had a gui interface similar to network manager in Ubuntu and I clicked on wireless and entered a proxy there but I can not find how I got there. It was not the TDE network interface. let me know what i can do to provide more information.
Thank you for your help.

Update:
It appears to only be 5g networks so far. and it appears to only be some of them not all.

So I learned that my wireless card is an Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN. This means it connects to a/g/n and not the modern 5ghz ac. Though sometimes it would connect to 5ghz wireless and it could see them, the connection was not reliable and sometimes worked but many times it did not. This may also be a router issue and optimizations on the router. so I pieced together how to fix the problem.
In debian you will need to edit or make a file in /etc/modprobe.d and name the file iwlegacy.conf. In that text file you will need to put the line "options iwlegacy 5ghz_disable=1".
This blocks all 5ghz channels from being scanned as many routers no longer use the 5ghz n standard. This will cause the card to use only 2.4 ghz channels.
