For devs - XDG_CONFIG_HOME variable

If one runs unset XDG_CONFIG_HOME the fallback is that /home/..../.config is used for config files.

Q4OS - Gemini and of course others - use /home/..../.configkde for Plasma by default.

Given that I will never want to add lxqt or trinity or others to my Plasma system is there any practical reason why I cannot just set it to use ~/.config where at least I can keep a level of consistency with other distros rather than ~/.configkde?

Re: For devs - XDG_CONFIG_HOME variable

Of course, you can unset $XDG_CONFIG_HOME with no critical impact. You will loose some default Q4OS/Plasma settings and if you install another desktop environment, some configuration settings will clash with others in $HOME/.config/
